The main objective of XML Gateway COM 2005 5 software is to transfer data between XML documents and relational databases using OLEDB or ODBC, Excel spreadsheets, Word documents or text files. XML documents can be located in file system, a web site, FTP site, message queue and web services. Modules can be built graphically by using XML Gateway tools that allow user to create custom data movement solutions adapted to the expert business.

Being based on the Microsoft COM technology ML Gateway COM emerged with two important parts as given below.

1. First part is XML Gateway COM DLL to provide a powerful and comprehensive set of XML interfaces. High performance XML-based applications which provide a high-degree of interoperability with other applications that hold to the XML 1.0 are developed with the help of XML interfaces.
2. Second part is XML Gateway COM Client tool which provides a set of tools that allow users to extract, transform, and combine data from dissimilar sources into single or multiple destinations.
